Abortion Funding Practical Support

One Year After Dobbs

The impact of the Dobbs decision on June 24th, 2022 that overturned Roe V. Wade has been profound. This ruling affected many in different ways specially the most marginalized. After the passing of SB8 in Texas, we witnessed a significant surge in individuals seeking our assistance. After the Dobbs ruling the number of individuals in need of our assistance grew even more. From July 2022 to June 2023 we helped 931 individuals.

In the second quarter of 2023, we assisted 290 individuals from 6 states. 225 of these individuals were from Texas, 3 from Arizona, 4 from Louisiana, 5 from New Mexico, 5 from Oklahoma, and 1 from Missouri. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we are able to continue aiding individuals in need of abortion care. Together, we are making an impact, empowering all individuals to have autonomy over their lives and bodies.

By the Numbers: This illustrates how many folks we’ve helped from each state this quarter!

The FDA has approved over-the-counter birth control

On Thursday, July 13th history was made when the FDA approved Opill to be the first over-the-counter birth control pill. This pill will be available in early 2024 without age restrictions and it is a progestin only pill. This is a huge advancement toward reproductive freedom that will allow more people to take control over their reproductive health care and their lives. It eliminates the need for a prescription, reducing barriers such as cost, time constraints, and potential stigmatization associated with obtaining a prescription.

Opill is an oral contraceptive that has been proven to be safe and effective. Opill will be sold in drug stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and online. Perrigo, the pill's manufacturer, has not shared pricing information with the public yet, but they have stated they are working to ensure Opill is affordable and accessible. They mentioned they are working on a consumer assistance program to help individuals who are struggling financially.

Over-the-counter birth control is a significant milestone in expanding access to reproductive care. Low-income individuals that don't have access to health insurance, people of color, and underage persons will now have an opportunity to access birth control in a more convenient way.

We are grateful for everyone who has advocated for over-the-counter birth control and for everyone who continues to fight for reproductive justice.

The Abortion Justice Act

On June 22nd, All Above All partnered with Rep. Ayanna Pressley to introduce the Abortion Justice Act, bold new legislation led by women of color in Congress and across the country that charts a new vision forward in the face of the escalating abortion care crisis.

The Abortion Justice Act protects people’s right to make their own healthcare decisions about abortion; improves availability and affordability of care, and prevents politicians from creating barriers. It protects patients, including immigrants, and providers from criminalization; removes systemic barriers to care; ensures abortion is covered by insurance; and, calls for necessary federal investments in abortion care including training, research, outreach, doula care, innovation, and access.

Please join us in taking action and urge your elected officials to support this bill and let them know that everyone should have the freedom to control their own lives, bodies, and futures.

In the decade since, the bold, fearless network made up of more than 150 organizations has changed the game on abortion access issues, constantly pushing the envelope to achieve bold, positive change. From the start, The NM Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (or NM RCRC) joined All* Above All as an Allied Partner through the National Network of Abortion Funds.
